The best laptop for blogging is one that is good to write on. It also needs a good screen that can include a lot of information at once. If you do blogging that requires research you might want to invest in a second monitor as you can have your source material open on one screen, and your word editor on another. Other than the typing ability and the screen there aren’t that many things that you as a blogger need to care much about. If you like to do more resource intensive tasks such as playing video games in your spare time, then that is a different story. In this post you will find some recommendations in various price categories.
You should get the best laptop in the price category that you are looking for. We will look particularly for laptops that have good keyboards and screens. There are other components in a laptop that play a big role and we will get into some of those below.

Best Laptops for Blogging
As a blogger there are lots of laptops to chose from. I have included laptops in various price ranges so that you have something that will fit your budget. With laptops you get what you pay for, but for blogging itself you should be okay with one of the budget options. If you like to do other things such as playing video games or doing music production then you might want to consider one of the mid-range options.
Acer Aspire 5
The Acer Aspire is one of the best budget options currently. It has good parts for a great price. It comes with a AMD Ryzen 3 3200U. This CPU performs somewhere around the Intel i5 mark. You can see a comparison table with the Ryzen CPU here. For blogging this CPU should be good enough. It is not particularly well suited for gaming.
Although there is only 4 GB of RAM in this laptop it is the DDR4 kind. 4 GB is not a lot these days, and you should really be aiming for 8 GB if you want to do a lot of multi-tasking. Even chrome can quickly consume 1 GB alone. The impressive fact is that it is the DDR4 kind. You can easily upgrade this to more RAM in the future if you want.
One big flaw of this laptop is that the SSD is only 128 GB. 128 GB is quite small, and if you do like to play video games you will find that it will fill up quickly. You can however get external storage that you can use for your regular files. Because SSDs are so much quicker than regular hard drives, you find that even budget options have them these days. The only problem is that they are very small. If you are okay with compensating with cloud storage or an external hard drive then this should be okay.
The most impressive feature of this laptop is the price. You get a lot of good parts for a very cheap price. There are also a few different models of the Apire, so you can check out different models if you want more powerful parts.
See the Acer Aspire 5 (#ad) on Amazon.
A mid-range option that is great for blogging is the Dell Inspiron. To be honest, this laptop is probably way too powerful for just writing, but some people do want something extra. This laptop is also good for playing video games or doing other resource intensive tasks such as music production.
The laptop comes with a 9th generation Intel i7, which is a great CPU. This is the same CPU that you will find in a lot of gaming computers that are a lot more expensive. Dell really knows how to provide a lot of value for your money. The CPU is more powerful than what a blogger needs. But, newer parts tend to last longer. This CPU will feel good even a few years down the line which many find important. You can buy a much cheaper computer, but you will most likely have to get a new one much sooner too. Overall this is one of the best CPUs for a laptop out there right now, and for this price that is very good.
The laptop also comes with 8 GB of DDR4 RAM, which goes up to 2666 MHz. This RAM is very good and probably as good as it will get for quite some time. You don’t need more than 8 GB right now. The laptop has been tested with 32 GB of RAM so you can definitely upgrade this in the future. It has one 8 GB chip in it so all you have to do is buy another 8 GB chip. RAM is very important for multitasking as the computer uses it it keep everything that it needs readily available.
This laptop even comes with a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 GPU. This is definitely not needed for blogging, but if you want to do video editing it can come in handy. A lot of bloggers also create YouTube content, and a GPU is useful for the editing part of video creation.
It also has a 256 GB SSD. 256 GB is still a bit small, but for most people this should be sufficient. If you do need more space then an external hard drive should be a good option. 256 GB is more than enough to install any kind of program you might want.
If you want a powerful laptop that also looks great then you should check out the Dell Inspiron.

Dell XPS – 15 Inch
The premium option in this list is the Dell XPS. This is a great looking laptop with good parts, and it is reflected in the price. This laptop is amazing, but it is much too powerful simply for blogging. If you are just looking for a machine that will do the job for writing then go check out the Acer Aspire. If you are looking for a laptop that has premium parts, and also looks premium, then this laptop might be something for you to consider.,
The laptop has a 9th generation i7-9750U. This is the same CPU that a lot of gaming laptops have so you can be sure that it is quite powerful. You don’t need this CPU for blogging but it will certainly last a long time. This CPU will be able to handle most of what you can throw at it even a few years down the road. It will also be very good for multitasking, although a less expensive one will do just fine too.
This laptop also comes with a GPU. It has a Nvidia GeForece GTX 1650 with 5 GB of DDR5 RAM. This is a great option for a laptop and makes it suitable fore more resource intensive tasks. You can even play video games at a decent setting or do music production on it. Surprisingly, music production is a very resource intensive task. It is also good for modeling or video editing.
There is also 16 GB of DDR4 RAM on this laptop. A premium laptop should come with premium parts, and the Dell XPS does. This laptop is a great option for anyone who is looking for something extra. If you just want to write blog articles and nothing more then don’t go with this laptop.

What to look for in the Best Laptop For Blogging
There are certain things that you should look for in the best laptop for blogging. You should consider the following when doing your research.
Not all laptops have great keyboards. One important thing about the keyboard is how far the keys travel. The longer they press down, the better they tend to be to type on. Some laptops also have backlit keyboard which can be nice for those late night work sessions.
For writing purposes you should be fine with any kind of CPU. The only thing you should keep in mind is that a more powerful CPU will increase the longevity of the laptop because it will better handle programs in the future. As software becomes more complex and parts become better, old components tend to not work as well. Often, a computer might start to feel a bit sluggish after a few years. Chrome for example uses quite a bit of CPU these days, and that is just a browser. The CPU is the brain of the computer and you don’t want to skimp too much on it if you want the laptop to last as long as possible. In laptops you usually get what you pay for and the CPU is one the parts that vary greatly with price.
You will mostly have the option between various Intel CPUs or an AMD CPU. The best CPU right now is probably a 9th generation i7, although there are some options with a 10th generation too now. The best laptop for blogging does not need the latest and greatest CPU, but keep in mind that it is an important component in the laptop. A machine learning laptop on the other hand could take advantage of a great CPU, but for blogging you really dont need it.
There are a few things to consider regarding the screen. The first is the resolution. Most laptops have a full HD screen which is 1920 x 1080. This should be more than good enough for most. There are also some laptops that come with Ultra HD screens, but they are mostly on more premium models, and it will not help you write better blog posts. If you go for a very low end laptop they can also have screens which are below full HD, but I do recommend the full HD option as you are likely to do quite a bit of media consumption as well.
The second thing to consider with the screen is the size. Most laptops have either a 13 inch, 15 inch, or a 17 inch screen. Within each category it might vary some but those are the most popular options. For blogging purposes you probably want to go with either a 15 inch or a 17 inch option. 13 inches is quite small and it is not the best for productivity. It is also terrible for multitasking as you can only have one thing open at once. You also have the option of getting an external monitor, something which usually increase productivity.
The last thing to consider is if you want a matte or a glossy screen. Glossy screens have a little better image quality. The matte screen is better in variable lighting as it does not produce as much glare as a glossy one. It achieves this by diffusing the light as it comes out, and the image quality is a bit reduced because of it. The best laptop for a blogger is probably one with a matte screen as it is better for taking places where you can’t control the lighting 100%.
There are a few things to consider regarding RAM. There are different kinds and then there is the amount of RAM. The two types of RAM you will see in laptops is DDR3 and DDR4. DDR4 is both faster and it uses less power. DDR4 is of course more expensive as well, so some laptops compromise and still use the DDR3 kind. You probably won’t notice too much difference between the two, the more important factor is how much you have. The new minimum for mid-range laptops is 8 GB. 8 GB is a good amount for multitasking as many programs are quite resource hungry these days. Some lower end laptops have 4 GB and some laptops will even have 16 GB.
Most laptops allow you to upgrade the amount of RAM as they have two slots for RAM chips, but only use one. The thing to keep in mind is that you can not switch between DDR3 and DDR4 because the chips don’t fit in each other’s slot. Because of that you should take that into consideration if you think you might want to upgrade in the future.
Most laptops have decent battery life these days, but of course some have better than others. It is important to not be blinded by the batter life. More powerful parts tend to reduce the battery life as they consumer more energy. Smaller screens also uses less power and therefore it will have better battery life. You are able to carry a charger around, it is not so inconvenient. As a blogger you probably want to take your laptop to a coffee shop or a library, but they have power outlets that you can use. You don’t have to rely on the battery in the computer all the time.
Final Comments on the Best Laptop for Blogging
You don’t need a powerful laptop for blogging. You should simply look for the best laptop in the price range you are looking for. When researching your options you should take the points from this post into consideration. Even within each price range there are both good and not so good options. The features of a laptop that are the most important for a writer is the keyboard, the screen, and the ability to multitask.
Overall you should be okay with most laptops out there, but the options in this list give you a lot of bang for your buck.
