Another thing that is important when dealing with resource intensive tasks is a GPU. Not everything can take advantage of a GPU, but Revit certainly can. You can find a list of approved GPUs here. Another laptop that you should consider is the 15 inch version of the Dell XPS. One thing that this laptop has that many others don’t is a great look. The laptop looks and feels premium, something which a lot of people value. One main reason for getting this laptop over the MSI GS65 Stealth-430 is the price. Although not cheap, this laptop comes in lower, something which is also reflected in the parts that it offers. We discussed how having a good CPU is very important when doing resource intensive work. This laptop also comes with the Intel Core i7-9750H. This is really the CPU that you should be looking for in any of your options, but if you are on a tight budget then you could afford to drop a little as long as you are okay with the performance drop.

Razer Blade 15 Gaming Laptop
The Razer blade is a good option for Revit. Even though it is a so called gaming laptop, it does not look bad. The only thing that might be a bit off-putting for some is the big logo on the back of the screen. As with all the other options in this list it comes with the Intel Cire i7-9750H CPU.
The laptop comes with the RTX 2060. This is not as powerful as the one that comes in the MSI GS65 Stealth-430 but it is quite close. RAM is not that expensive these days, so starting out with only 16 is not so bad because you can upgrade it. Just make sure that whichever laptop you get has the DDR4 kind, as opposed to the DDR3 kind that you can find in a lot of lower end laptops.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus S GX701
Another great laptop for Revit is the ASUS ROG Zephyrus. There are two main reasons for getting this laptop over the MSI. The first is the price as with all the other options, the second is the screen size. This is the only 17 inch option in this list. 17 inches can be quite big but when you are dealing with a modeling software the screen can be quite important. In most cases I think a 15 inches is the best compromise between productivity and flexibility, but if you are looking for a larger laptop then this might be the option for you.
As with the CPU this laptop also comes with the Intel i7-9750H. As stated before, this is one of the best CPUs out there now and that is why all these high end laptops have it.
One area that the MSI GS65 Stealth-430 is still better is in the GPU department. This laptop has the RTX 2070 version which is the second best GPU on this list. Although still not cheap, the Dell Inspiron is the budget option if you are looking for something a bit more affordable. The price is really the only reason why you would want to pick this laptop over any of the others.
Although the price difference is quite big between this laptop and the others, this laptop still comes with the Intel Core i7-9750H CPU. This is a great CPU for a laptop in this price range, which is why it makes it onto this list as a budget option.

What to look for in the best laptop for Revit
The Revit requirements aren’t as specific as you might want them to be.
For CPU it says under the performance plan that you can use up to 16 cores, which is a lot. Most laptops will not have more than 6 cores on the CPU. It also mentions that the best CPU for Revit is the highest affordable speed that you can afford. We will look for a 9th generation Intel i7 with 6 cores in the best laptop for revit, as it won’t get much better currently.
As far as RAM goes it says 16 GB is usually sufficient. 8 GB is the new minimum for mid range laptops, so 16 GB is not unreasonable. More than that you would usually only get on gaming laptops. You can also upgrade the amount at a later point if you want. I would like to add that in addition to the amount of RAM you should get, you should also think about the type. Not all RAM is equal, and you will notice that laptops usually comes with either DDR3 or DDR4 type RAM. DDR4 is faster and uses less power. You should get a minimum of 16 GB of DDR4 RAM. You will also be stuck with the type of RAM that you get, as you cant switch between DDR3 and DDR4 as the chips have different forms.
They recommend getting a graphics card that is DirectX 11 capable with shader model 5. A GPU is good for many things, so you can benefit in more areas if you have one. I can often help taking some of the load off the CPU with a lot of programs so you can use one even if you don’t do other things such as playing video games.
As far as the screen goes they have a minimum resolution of 1920 x 1200, and a maximum of ultra HD (3840 x 2160). If their minimum really is 1920 x 1200 then most full hd screens will not be optimal as they are 1920 x 1080. That means that we have to go with one of the ultra HD screen options to really get the best performance out of the laptop screen. As far as the size of the screen you should get a minimum of 15 inches. This is not a product requirement, but you need at least that size for any sort of productivity. 13 inches is very small and doing model work on such a small screen will not be good. You might also want to invest in an external screen at some point so that you can get more screen real estate.
As far as disk space goes it requires 5 GB of free space. You also want to make sure that you have enough space to save all your models and any other programs you might want on the laptop. Most common storage size options these days range from 256 GB to 512 GB. As the best laptop for revit will be quite powerful and not very cheap, they often come with larger storage space. It says that if you get a hard drive it should be at least 10,000 RPM. We are going for an SSD drive, and if it has a hard drive it will be a secondary one that can be used to store files.
